Music and Technology Task 5 Final Composition Final Composition (35% of Module) This takes the form of an original composition that should demonstrate technical understanding, practical proficiency, detailed application and musical understanding of the topics covered, realised in a creative and sensitive manner. Extra marks may be awarded for successful implementation of musical techniques not covered in class time. Credit will also be given for good presentation. The composition must be accompanied by a short write-up that will include technical details about your piece (including identification of the relevant file names) drawing attention to any compositional processes that may not be immediately apparent. Further Guidance Sound sources should be originally recorded by you and in addition you may use sounds from other pre-recorded media - i.e. material on CD, tape, MP3, vinyl etc. Portable recorders and microphones may be borrowed for half-day sessions from Media Services. As a guideline, a good piece of work of 2 minutes is sufficient, although if you choose to create a process-based work, the duration may be quite a lot more. Submission on Compact Disc - Logic Project Folder file [entitled Final Composition], including: Logic file Audio folder, Sampler Instruments folder, Bounce folder [with final mix of composition], composition write-up (as .txt, .doc or .rtf file). The composition should be submitted to the i-Centre by the time and date specified in the Module Guide, with an appropriate cover-sheet.
